and Two Fat Ladies 88km Race

Sunday, 23rd May 1999

From the race organiser:-

24 hardy individuals braved the wind and rain to take part in the 15 mile community event on Sunday 23rd May.

Alistair Stewart produced the fastest run of the day with a blistering 1:39.09, well inside the old course record set in 1998 of 1:40.25.

The fastest bike was Stuart McIntyre with a time of 1:23.09 (the race record was set in 1998 by Mick Padfield in 1:23.06).

The oldest individual was Dr. Hugh Lang, who last walked the route as a 29 year old fifty years ago.

Bill Yate was the only individual to do the 88km race and his bike ride time of 3:52.18 is now the benchmark for others.
